The Vision

My wife and I come from a long line of farmers and livestock producers in Dyer County. I have always had a passion for working on a ranch with horses and cattle, caring for livestock, and engaging in hard work. I am particularly drawn to cattle operations and the interaction between cattle, horses, and cowboys.

This ranch was built on integrity. When we established our cattle operation and organized the ranch, we focused on simplicity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Prioritizing the safety of our livestock was paramount while setting up the facilities.

Our cattle operation began with a cross-bred herd and transitioned to registered Red Angus Cattle in 2020. Our vision was to maintain a calm and healthy herd for consistent production. Over the years, we implemented a project plan that included installing fencing, water supply, feed systems, and handling equipment to support our operation.

We are committed to continuous improvements for both the ranch and the herd as we strive for a quality operation that is clean, organized, and productive. Despite our dedication to the ranch, we also value enjoying Ranch Life with our family and friends.

Here’s to the sunny slopes of long ago.

We have spacious pastures where we have planted blends of efficient grasses over the rolling hills of our ranch. There is ample shade for shelter and heat preservation. Fortunately, all of our pastureland is interconnected, and the core of this land has been in my wife Leigh Anne's family for over 100 years. Located in Northwest Tennessee, our ranch offers many advantages for cattle compared to other parts of the country. Our winters are tough but more forgiving, and spring rains provide longer grazing periods.

Rooted in Tradition.  Bred for Tomorrow.

Built on Integrity.  Raised with Care.

Generations of Quality in Every Bloodline.

The Ranch

We embrace modern cattle technology, but our ranch layout naturally shields us from most traces of modern civilization.  Riding a horse in the middle of the ranch while checking the cows under the shade of a calm summer sunset feels like stepping back in time to a more peaceful place. It is natural to give praise to God for these opportunities.

We primarily use horses and work cattle in the traditional way, allowing for extra attention to detail and a better view for inspection. This approach enhances efficiency and promotes calmness within the herd.  Our cattle are raised with care and there are generations of quality in every bloodline. Our horses are an essential part of the team and treated as family members. We believe in honest ranching.

Raising Red Angus with Purpose and Pride

You know, trail driving is no Sunday School picnic. You got to figure you're dealing with the dumbest oneriest critter on God's green earth. The cow is nothing but trouble tied up in a leather bag - and the horse ain't much better.

The Herd

As we began building the herd, I acquired a diverse group of pedigrees with similar traits as we focused on quality and genetics. Most of the cattle were purchased from reputable producers in the southeast region. Our herd is rooted in tradition and bred for tomorrow. We prioritized cows with a thick and solid build and strong maternal instincts while bulls, were selected for their thick bodies, solid foundation, low birth weight, and high growth rate. A key trait we sought in all our cattle was a calm demeanor and low stress levels.

Over the years, we have made culling decisions based on temperament to maintain a herd of calm and easy-to-handle cattle that produce solid, good-looking calves with longevity. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the solid bloodlines in our herd while improving desirable qualities.

During the Winter breeding season, we manage several divided herds across the ranch. The Fall calving season begins in September. In non-breeding months, the females are rotated through different pastures for optimal grazing, while the bulls are kept separate.

We prioritize the health of our herd through a documented program of annual and bi-annual vaccinations and parasite control measures. Daily herd inspections are a top priority to ensure the well-being of our cattle. We have developed our herd with strong foundational genetics and have incorporated our own homegrown stock to enhance our breeding program.
